What to Make of Trump’s Syrian Air Strike

The title of this article “What to Make of Trump’s Syrian Air Strike” is appropriate, and should give constitutional conservatives pause. “Trump’s …Air Strike”?  One man’s air strike?  Shouldn’t it be U.S. Air Strike?  Isn’t that how it feels though—like the

president is going it alone without a Declaration of War (U.S. Constitution, 1789) or a War Powers Authorization (federal law, 1973).

(I appreciate my reader’s [edit: readers’. That’s hilarious] patience. I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been up to my eyeballs in homework in grad school.)

Thursday, April 6th (EST), the U.S. Navy launched 59 Tomahawk missiles striking a Syrian air base in western Syria.  The missile strike came on the heels of a report Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, launched a sarin-gas air strike against a neighborhood killing young children.

Yes, yes, I know the 1973 War Powers Act gives the president the prerogative to use immediate military force without a Declaration of War or congressional Authorization. But, this immediate prerogative can ONLY be used if there is an “attack on the U.S., territories, possessions, or armed forces.”

This is not an article about Declarations of War violations, nor is it a claim Al-Queda-backed rebels were to blame for the sarin-gas attack.  Though both are addressed.  This is not a false-flag article.

Those of us out here in the real world simply do not have the intel to determine who launched the horrific gas attack that prompted Trump’s response.

Here are my concerns, not in any particular order:

Who has more to gain in launching the sarin gas attack on innocent Syrians, Syria or the Syrian rebels (i.e. al-Queda)? Answer:  Syrian rebels.  The rebels have been dogged by Syrian and Russian air strikes, begging the U.S. to get involved and destroy Syria’s air force.  Syria does not benefit from purposely or accidentally gassing innocent Syrians (though I don’t discount the possibility there were other reasons Syria may have bombed this neighborhood).  To date, there is no publically available evidence to cast blame.

Senators John McCain and Graham are thrilled about this U.S. air strike. I rarely, if ever, agree with these misguided Progressive Republicans.  So, I’m automatically inclined to think I should disapprove of the U.S. air strike.  If the Leftist media supports it (the air strikes), I’m definitely suspicious.

There is a stink of politics in the air—China’s visit, Democrats and Leftist media hammering away at this ridiculous narrative Trump is in bed with Putin, North Korean tensions building.

Is President Trump so emotionally sensitive that a few horrifying images of sarin-gas victims move him to risk a larger war without congressional authorization? I too have a weak stomach for children suffering, but Americans expect their president to hold it together and act with prudence in the face of human suffering. This kind of human suffering goes on daily since time immemorial.

Finally, about the president (any U.S. president) using military force when we have not been attacked directly. The president simply does NOT have the authority to go around the world committing unprovoked U.S. military strikes be they large significant missions or “targeted,” “surgical,” or “one-offs.” He just doesn’t.  This is how wars are started.

Our Founding Fathers were scared to death a president would draw us into a larger war by committing our military via smaller provocative strikes. That’s just a fact.  If we want to change the Constitution in that regard, then someone needs to propose an amendment to the Constitution.

I rarely disagree with Mark Levin. Mr. Levin has been quick to support Trump’s decision to strike the Syrian air base.   Even if Syria’s air force is to blame for the sarin gas attack (a distinct possibility), I cannot condone a U.S. air strike that ignores the rule of law.  Are we condoning the rule of men now?

I am far more concerned about North Korea and Iran’s nuclear programs than I am Syria’s awful civil war. Why?  Nukes.  North Korea and Iran pose a direct threat to the U.S.  Yeah, it’s easier to launch a handful of Tomahawks at a crumbling regime than to man-up and face real threats like North Korea where many thousands of U.S. service men and women may die.  There’s a lot of complicated heavy lifting to be done about North Korea and Iran; that’s a real leader’s conflict—with millions of American civilian lives hanging in the balance.

I support Trump. And I like thumping the bad guys as much as anyone.  But let’s try to get through this current administration with the rule of law and U.S. Constitution intact, shall we.  That’s what is at stake here—that’s what’s always at stake!  Do we trade away the U.S. Constitution for momentary bravado?  Not this patriot.

Trump’s Inauguration Promise Dance

I just watched all three inauguration balls on Fox News, ending with the Armed Services Ball.  I didn’t have plans to write an article this evening, but after watching the Armed Services Ball’s “First Dance” I had to write my reaction. If you did not see this First Dance, you must!  It moved me deeply and unexpectedly.

I knew there were plans for uniformed soldiers to “cut in” and dance with the First Couple, the First Family, and the Pence’s. A beautiful young woman soldier whose hair was pulled into a bun danced with President Trump, and a broad shouldered young man danced with our First Lady, Melania.

I thought it was a cute idea initially. Maybe too cute, but I’ll watch. I watched.  As the song, “I Will Always Love You,” was sung to low key music, the scene and the feeling changed; it was changing slowly into something very special.  And I watched closer.

I watched how President Trump handled and danced with his uniformed partner. It was beautiful like watching a father with his daughter at a wedding reception.  He was gentle and powerful, and all the while conscious of his partner’s honor and beauty. I watched Melania and her uniformed partner dance, imagining the young man’s awkwardness.  Melania and her partner danced further apart, more formal and ceremonious by contrast.  Then I went back to watching Trump.  That’s when it happened…

I had this overwhelming feeling our armed service men and women are cared for again. That, if Trump fails all promises but one, this is the ONE promise he will not fail.  It was in his dance.  Watch his dance.  Watch how he dances with that service woman.  And tell me a father wouldn’t do anything for his daughter.  No holds barred.

Trump’s Safety: Considering the Unthinkable

election-riots-2016

I think we Trump supporters have to consider not just the possibility of a Trump assassination, but the likelihood of it. I think it is extremely likely the Left will make attempts on Donald Trump’s life.  As uncomfortable and horrifying those thoughts are, the likelihood of it gives good reason for a frank discussion.

There was at least one credible threat to Trump’s life during the presidential campaign that we know of. Now Trump has won the election and is serving as president-elect until Friday, January 20th, 2017.

Incidentally, the Electoral College meets Monday, December 19th, and the official Electoral College vote count is released by Congress on Friday, January 6th, 2017. Not that I expect electors will change their votes, but it is possible.  Certainly something to keep in mind as Trump is already a target of the Left.

The Left is NOT done. The Left is never done.  They are NOT slinking away in defeat, licking their wounds.  They are NOT rolling over and calling it good.  They are NOT rethinking their Leftist brand.  They are NOT soul searching in thoughtful contemplation their unpopular policies.  They are not regrouping and waiting patiently to try harder next time.  No.  The Left is determined, radical, violent, and well-funded.

The Left is furious Trump won the election!  Livid. Rabid with outrage.  Indignant. They feel cheated.  Their disdain for Trump voters is visceral.  They look down on middle America with hatred.  They are equally contemptuous it was the Founding Fathers’ Electoral College that defeated their candidate.  The Left expected Hillary to finish what Obama could not—the fundamental transformation of America (for your own good, of course).  Now more than ever, the Left feels America needs to be taught a lesson.

In the ten days since the election we have seen tens of thousands of hypocritical sore losers protesting; Soros-instigated violent riots across half a dozen major cities; Hollywood tears, rants, and threats of emigrating; sanctuary city mayors defying federal deportation laws; pampered college kids whimpering in their safe zones; the media perplexed about their own polling miscalculations; and the Democrat National Committee under siege from within. Leftist heads are exploding in the wake of the Trump victory.  If Trump is true to his word, the Left is going to go nuclear when Trump actually takes office and implements his policies.

The trigger puller may not be a Leftist operative.  The trigger puller could just as easily be a Hillary supporter terrified the new president is a white-supremacist with plans of stripping minorities of their belongings, breaking up families, and packing them into boxcars en route to concentration camps—thanks to the propaganda of the Leftist media and politicians.  Or the “puller” could be bankers or Wall Street traders with much to lose if Trump cuts off the gravy train of artificially low “easy money” interest rates, Federal Reserve secrecy, no-one-goes-to-jail risk-free trading, and money printing.  The Left walks hand in hand with fear and corruption.

The Left is exposing itself. They are exposing themselves for the violent America-hating radicals they are—the silent monster quietly undermining America’s founding since the 1920s.  Take note.

This is only the beginning. As the economy continues to deteriorate, guess who the Leftist media will blame?  For the past eight years the media has been covering-up the deterioration of the economy while their messiah, Obama, was in office.  But NOW, with Trump in office, the plight of the unemployed, displaced, hungry, and homeless will be front page news every day!—as if all this is new news.  Expect riots.

Does anyone really expect Obama to do the honorable thing and retire in silence after Trump takes office, like George W. Bush did?  Obama is NOT done “community organizing.”  The Obamas are the new Clintons.  One evil falls, another replaces it.

The assassination of Trump is not only possible, it’s likely. Middle America and conservatives breathed a collective sigh of relief when Hillary was defeated.  It was a magnificent triumph for America and our electoral process.  But we cannot rest on our laurels.  The Left is gathering steam.  The consequence of this election is now in its infancy.  Soon the Leftist monster will burst forth from its 100-year gestation.  Subtle will become obvious.  Covert will become overt.  Nudge will become shove.

Think through the unthinkable.

Brace for impact.

Vigilance is the price of liberty.

Trump WINS! Deplorables vs. Corruptibles

Trump WINS!  I was wrong about the popular vote, still, it is an impressive victory given the Clinton machine of 30 years, millions of dollars poured into Clinton’s campaign from super PACs, an overwhelmingly biased media, mischievous polling, and voter fraud.  His OWN party—“establishment” Republicans—didn’t even support him!  Neither the Bushes nor Paul Ryan campaigned for Trump.  It was an amazing victory against all odds.  I had my doubts.

My son and I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning waiting for 270. We called it a night at 2:30am ET, one hour before the election was called for Trump.  Election night is like the Super Bowl for me.  We ordered pizza and watched Fox News all night.  We kept a score card of states, reconfiguring as needed.  My son found a terrific interactive electoral map on his laptop.  We cheered and high-fived good news, and waited out the bad news.  It was a historic night, and I thank God I will always have the memory of sharing it with my son.

I give Tucker Carlson the winning insight early in the evening on Fox News. Monica Crowley was at the top of her game.  Sadly, Megyn Kelly revisited the “war on women” issue endlessly.  Juan Williams feigned how frightened he is of a Trump presidency, but I give him credit for being outnumbered on the panel.  Ol’ Brit Hume hung in there like a champ, and I thought all the Fox anchors and contributors did a splendid job for what was a very long night.

There is a lot of talk this morning about reconciliation, unification, and healing. The sentiment is right and necessary.  Though I might add prayer to the list.

The country is deeply divided. I see Hillary supporters falling into one of two camps: the ignorant misled voters or the Leftist America haters.  I don’t feel ONE BIT sorry for the Leftist America haters.  To HELL with them!   I only feel compassion for the ignorant/misled.  The ignorant/misled are frightened Trump is a racist, authoritarian, monster. I think, within months, they will see Trump’s image as a monster was promulgated by the Leftist media.  Frightened Hillary supporters will soon find Trump is far more practical, compassionate, intelligent, and liberal than he portrayed himself on the campaign trail.

This morning, I feel a sense of overall ease for myself and my country. I feel like SO MUCH of what Obama has been doing is FINALLY coming to an end.  Finally, after eight awful years.  Obama is a phony, lying to the American people about who and what he really is—a radical Leftist.  I thought his destruction of America was NEVER going to end.

It does feel like we are taking back our country—back to the people who love America, individual liberty, and free-enterprise. It will be so refreshing to have someone in the White House who loves America for what it is and stands for, instead of someone who is trying to change America into something they wait to love.

I hope to God that Trump cleans house—unearthing as much D.C. corruption as possible. I’d really like to see the political careers of “establishment” Republicans ended for their treachery; they deserve no less, but I’ll trust God to sort that out.  I want to see impeachment of federal judges, starting with the Supreme Court.  I want to see the Federal Reserve replaced with a new Department of Treasury.  I want every banker who contributed to the destruction of our monetary system stand trial for their crimes.  Build the wall, return to rule of law and separation of powers, rebuild our military, put all sanctions back on Iran, push for congressional term limits, deep deregulation, simplify and lower taxes, end Obamacare, support for an Article V convention of states, and so much more.  Calling a grand jury to indict Hillary and FBI Director James Comey is at the bottom of the list.

I hope Trump drains the swamp in D.C., but I fear he may be consumed by it.
